In Canada, I sell the dwarf pomegranate bonsai strictly as an indoor bonsai tree, but if you’re living in the South – anywhere warmer than a zone 7 then you can grow this deciduous bonsai outside – for the most part. But you will want to be careful because this 10 year old 22 inch tall tree that has so much going for it, including orange/red trumpet shaped flowers that can genuinely be described as breathtaking.

Perhaps ever better than the flowers are the fruit on this bonsai tree, which you will need to keep it warm to see. This tree is particularly well suited to the bonsai enthusiast who can really appreciate the attractions of a flowering and fruiting bonsai. It’s not a fast grower, which is good and it adapts exceptionally well to the informal upright style. This tree is a great choice for the experienced grower who will know when to fuss with it and when to leave it alone. So far this 10 year old tree is showing great form and has reached a height of 22 inches.
