This past holiday season I did the usual healthy home cooking which means I was mixing, cooking, baking etc., but what I found myself doing a lot was covering everything with plastic wrap or foil. When I put it into the refrigerator to hold it over I couldn’t stack it. I thought there has to be a better way. My refrigerator was jammed and I couldn’t be sure that some of the foods weren’t picking up the odors of other foods. I also had pre-made some dishes that I put in the freezer, so I could just bake them later, but had the same problem. A full freezer that became a balancing act.

I started looking around, and I found something that I think will be helpful to me in the future. It’s a 19 piece Pyrex “Originals” Baking Set that is microwave, dishwasher, freezer, and oven safe. Best of all every baking piece has its own matching lid that fits perfectly. I can cover the dish to store in the refrigerator; freezer or I can use the lid to cover the leftovers. Plastic keepers absorb odors and flavors, but these dishes are glass so you never have to worry about that again. You can also see your food as it cooks, or see the layers if you are making a layered salad or dip. You’ll see this set has 2 & 3 quart oblong dishes, an 8 inch square pan, a 1.5 quart loaf pan, 1.5 and 2.5 quart mixing bowls, a 9 inch pie plate and four 10 ounce custard dishes. All with covers! I’ve used Pyrex before, and I’ve always thought they had great products; this is going to round out my kitchen baking supply and serve me for years.

I took a good look at my cookware recently and realized it was in pretty sad shape. Not all of it – there is a large hard anodized stockpot that I use constantly that still looks as good as new. There is also a matching saucepan that is in great shape too. But the rest of my cookware is getting a little tattered. Most of it I’ve had for quite a long time and some of it doesn’t match anything. So I’ve realized that there are too many mix-and-match pots and pans taking up room in my cabinets. It’s time for me to get some new matching cookware – like this great 15 Piece Cookware Set.

It’s a nice stainless steel set with aluminum core bottoms for excellent heating and attractive clear tempered glass lids. The 15 pieces includes all of the pots I could possibly need including a 2-quart covered saucepan, 3-quart covered saucepan, and a 7-quart covered stockpot. Plus there are 2 great nonstick frying pans, a covered saute pan, a big covered casserole and 3 cooking spoons. It’s really the ideal stainless steel cookware set whether you’re replacing an old set or just starting out in your first place.

Wheat berries are one of these foods that people used to cook with all the time, but that have since faded into history. And to be honest, it’s a shame since they are delicious and have a lot of nutrients in them. They are not the easiest grain to cook which is probably why they have been replaced with rice and quick cooking oats in our society. This crockpot cooked wheat berries recipe makes the entire cooking process easy. Just cook up a batch, keep the end result in the fridge and enjoy it in a variety of recipes all week long.

There are a lot of dishes, including this one that I never would have thought about cooking in a slow cooker until I came across this collection of crockpot recipes. Who knew that you can make anything from scalloped potato to glazed ham in this versatile appliance? I also like the fact that it only uses a fraction of the energy my stove or oven uses. I can actually see a difference in our power bill when I use my crockpot a lot to cook dinner.

Excellent for a light repast or as an accompaniment to a larger meal, each delicious enclosure will transport your taste buds to the City of Lights. The beautiful basket can also be used for decoration or storage after the food is finished.

Baskets of winetend to bring lots of elegance to your gift. Nestled inside the lovely woven picnic basket are an assortment of fine wines, salted snacks and sweet treats that are sure to impress the lucky person perusing them. Bring a glass and sample one of three delightful wines. Open a bottle of rich Cabernet Sauvignon that pairs excellently with the included Cabernet crackers and gourmet mustard. Sample a crisp white blend that is perfect with the included smoked salmon and white Zinfandel Havarti cheese. Or you can indulge the palate with a racy red blend that will accent the sweet, dark notes in the included Le Grand Truffle chocolates. When the wine is gone, relax with one another, enjoy the included pistachios, and share leisurely conversation about how rosy life can truly be!
