According to a recent post on the Huffpost Tech site, a study was recently concluded that timed Internet connection speeds from all around the United States. The report was prepared by Pando Networks and it tracked user data during the months of January through June, of this year. It noted that on a regional scale the slowest states were Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Iowa, Arkansas, Nebraska and Alaska. The report concluded that lower demand, due to lower populations, is the underlying reason for the slow connectivity found in these states. On the other side of the equation, the states with the fastest connection speeds were Rhode Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Virginia — all of them located in the crowded Northeast or Mid-Atlantic corridor. Many feel government subsidized fiber optics will finally provide the answer to slow rural connection speeds.
