Some indoor bonsai trees can survive outdoors during the warm summer months, but that’s not true of the Flowering Bougainvillea bonsai. This indoor bonsai tree needs to stay indoors at all times unless you live somewhere that has a very warm climate. Even then, it may be best to keep your Flowering Bougainvillea inside. Because of their amazingly pink, delicate looking flowers, many people enjoy adding Flowering Bougainvilleas to their bonsai collection. The flowers look almost like paper, giving the Bougainvillea the nickname of Paper Flower. The flowers are actually the bracts that grow at the tips of the stems. Last year my parents, the Jones’, retired and bought a Rion Silverline 6 x 8 Greenhouse to take their gardening hobby up to the next level and it has been a resounding success. This past holiday season I did the usual healthy home cooking which means I was mixing, cooking, baking etc., but what I found myself doing a lot was covering everything with plastic wrap or foil. When I put it into the refrigerator to hold it over I couldn’t stack it. I thought there has to be a better way. My refrigerator was jammed and I couldn’t be sure that some of the foods weren’t picking up the odors of other foods. I also had pre-made some dishes that I put in the freezer, so I could just bake them later, but had the same problem. A full freezer that became a balancing act.

I started looking around, and I found something that I think will be helpful to me in the future. It’s a 19 piece Pyrex “Originals” Baking Set that is microwave, dishwasher, freezer, and oven safe. Best of all every baking piece has its own matching lid that fits perfectly. I can cover the dish to store in the refrigerator; freezer or I can use the lid to cover the leftovers. Plastic keepers absorb odors and flavors, but these dishes are glass so you never have to worry about that again. You can also see your food as it cooks, or see the layers if you are making a layered salad or dip. You’ll see this set has 2 & 3 quart oblong dishes, an 8 inch square pan, a 1.5 quart loaf pan, 1.5 and 2.5 quart mixing bowls, a 9 inch pie plate and four 10 ounce custard dishes. All with covers! I’ve used Pyrex before, and I’ve always thought they had great products; this is going to round out my kitchen baking supply and serve me for years.

I’ll bet the English were the first to take tropical and subtropical plants and trees and try and keep them alive in a colder climate by bringing them into winter shelter. It’s amazing how long iron will last! I have some iron trellises that my grandparents used in their flowerbeds for years prior to my inheriting them.
